FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

While each pet therapy session will be tailored to a client’s specific needs and goals, a variety of activities can be included across all settings. These can range from simple, quiet interactions with a therapy animal to more active, engaging play sessions.
Corporate Wellness Sessions
At Pawever Companions we understand the importance of maintaining a productive and focused work environment. That's why we offer pet therapy sessions that are designed to provide a much-needed break for employees without disrupting the workplace.
When booking a pet therapy session for your office, we recommend reserving a meeting room to ensure that the session does not disturb anyone who requires concentration. Our therapy dogs are trained to be calm and well-behaved, but we understand that some employees may be allergic or uncomfortable around dogs. By booking a meeting room, we can ensure that everyone in the office is comfortable and can continue their work uninterrupted.
During the session, our therapy dogs will be accompanied by a trained handler who will supervise the interaction between the dogs and the employees. We will bring in toys and treats for the dogs, and employees can simply walk in for a 10–15-minute break with the dogs. This break can help reduce stress and anxiety, increase productivity, and improve overall morale in the workplace.
Our pet therapy sessions are a great way to show your employees that you care about their well-being and are committed to creating a positive work environment. Book a session for your office and experience the benefits of pet therapy firsthand.
Aged Care Wellness Sessions
At Pawever Companions, we understand the importance of socialisation and engagement for the elderly residents of aged care facilities. That's why we offer pet therapy sessions that are designed to provide a fun and interactive experience for the residents.
We recommend scheduling pet therapy sessions during times when residents are already gathered for social activities. Our sessions can include playing games such as tug of war, playing fetch, or even training the dogs and rewarding them with treats. Our therapy dogs are trained to be calm and well-behaved, and our handlers are experienced in facilitating engaging activities that are tailored to the needs and preferences of the residents.

Private In-home Wellness Session
In a typical in-home visit, pet therapy may include spending time playing with the animal, training, and taking the clients and the dogs to nearby dog parks or other outdoor areas. Depending on the specific needs of the client, sessions may also include obedience training or even canine-assisted therapy.
Ultimately, the goal of Pet Therapy sessions in all settings is to promote well-being, reduce stress, facilitate social interaction, and enhance the overall quality of life. With a customised and compassionate approach to each client, pet therapy can create hugely positive benefits in a variety of environments.

By opting for a professional pet therapy service, such as ours, employers can ensure that all staff members can enjoy the benefits of pet therapy, regardless of pet ownership. Our certified therapy dogs and experienced handlers take care of everything, providing a controlled and safe environment for employees to experience the positive effects of pet therapy.

For optimal results, it is recommended to schedule pet therapy sessions on a regular basis. The more frequent the sessions, the better the potential outcomes. Regular sessions allow for the development of a close bond between the individuals receiving therapy and the therapy dogs. As this bond strengthens over time, the therapeutic benefits also increase.
When the therapy dogs become familiar with your team or loved ones, they display greater signs of affection and excitement during the sessions. This heightened interaction and connection contribute to enhanced therapeutic effects. The dogs' presence and their positive response to the individuals receiving therapy further promote feelings of comfort, joy, and emotional support.
To maintain the ongoing benefits of pet therapy, it is suggested to consider weekly or fortnightly visits. This consistent schedule ensures continued interaction, bonding, and the sustained positive impact of the therapy. By incorporating regular pet therapy sessions into your routine, you can maximize the therapeutic benefits and create a lasting, beneficial experience for everyone involved.

Thank you for your interest in our Pet Therapy Services! At Pawever Companions, we have carefully chosen to offer our services primarily to offices, aged care facilities and private homes. These settings provide calm and quiet environments, which are essential for the welfare of our whippets. Whippets, being sensitive dogs, aren't particularly well-suited to over loud or intense environments.
However, we understand that there may be instances where you would like to book a pet therapy session in a different setting. We are open to exploring other options from time to time. If you wish to discuss the possibility of arranging a pet therapy session in a different setting such as a school or hospital, we encourage you to send us an inquiry or give us a call at 0422 082 300. We can discuss the details and explore the feasibility of accommodating your request.
Please note that while we are willing to consider alternative settings, our priority remains the welfare and comfort of our whippets. We will assess each request on a case-by-case basis to ensure the best possible experience for both our therapy animals and the individuals receiving our services.

Various types of animals can be involved in pet therapy, including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, and even miniature horses. Each animal has its own unique qualities that can contribute to the therapeutic benefits of the therapy session.
At Pawever Companions, we specialise in using whippets as therapy dogs. Whippets are known for their gentle and affectionate nature, making them excellent companions for individuals seeking emotional support. Their calm demeanour and friendly disposition create a soothing and comforting environment during therapy sessions. Whippets are also well-suited for indoor settings due to their size and adaptability, allowing them to engage with individuals in various environments.
The sleek and elegant appearance of whippets often attracts attention and sparks conversations, facilitating social interaction among patients or participants. Their presence can help individuals feel at ease, reduce stress, and provide a sense of companionship.
By utilizing whippets as therapy dogs, Pawever Companions aims to harness their unique qualities to enhance the therapeutic experience, promote emotional well-being, and create a positive and calming environment for those in need of pet therapy.

Whippets are not considered hypoallergenic dogs. While they have short hair and minimal shedding compared to some other breeds, they do produce dander, which is the primary allergenic component found in pet allergies. Individuals with allergies to dogs may still experience allergic reactions to whippets, although the severity of the reaction can vary from person to person. It's always advisable for individuals with allergies to spend time with a whippet or any other dog breed before committing to regular interaction to assess their specific sensitivity and potential allergic reactions.

Of course, our therapy animals are vaccinated. Our dogs and Kiera the cat is up to date with vaccinations and undergo regular health checks to ensure their optimal health. This ensures a safe and secure environment during pet therapy sessions.
